Hey! So we hit our long awaited development milestone, and it's finally time for us to let the world screw around with our little game. What is Tribal Wars? Well its a mod thats been in development for quakewars enemy territory since 2007. Since then we've gone through many ups/downs/hiatus's/team members/ etc. in order to bring you a Tribes experience with some modern graphics to match.

Hope you have fun with it.

  • So does it work with pirated ET:QW or what?
  • edited March 2010
If there's a way of doing so yeah.

I don't know why anyone would pirate a four dollar game though >:3
  • is this d3d or opengl?
  • 20 bucks on steam :f
  • Yeah, its more for digital distribution. Most people who were interested went the cheap ass amazon route: http://www.amazon.com/Enemy-Territory-Quake-Wars-Pc/dp/B000BKYQVI

I hate the fact that the game isn't standalone, but what can yeh do?
  • looks very nice good work .thanks for the amazon link think I may try this out.

  • Yeah I found the video by googling. It looks good, but having to buy ETQW first is bad
  • yup, paying 20-30 just to try a mod is too much, you guys should check if it works without a serial, youd have many more players then
  • awesome 30 second verizon ads...

    cool game too man, gj

I paid 20 on steam and it was well worth it !
I installed the mod then copy and pasted the steam quakewars game folder to the twars folder used the twars shortcut and every thing worked great . I am very pleased with all of the hard work these guys put in to this mod .
  • It looks terribly slow just like Legions... Honestly I'd have tried to focus more on a fast teamplay rather than graphic. Basically T1 was great because it was simple and amazingly "nervous". :)
  • I know what your saying shock .I would like to let you know that this is the beginning and any info or view point you have about it could be posted here http://twars.org/forums/ 1.0 is out now and 1.1 is being worked on . All input from any one who loves tribes is needed :)
  • Outstanding work to Arcanox and crew. Outstanding!

Legions actually plays pretty fast. Almost too fast which causes a lot of balance issues on a assortment of maps with varying size. It only works well on the smallest of maps. That and missing content takes way from the game so it gets meh after awhile. Plus the binds mess kind of takes the kiss concept and kills it.

Tribal Wars plays a bit more between old T1 physics and T2C but it still needs some tweaks to improve momentum, pancaking issue etc. They are working on that (we shoudl probably say one single guy is working on that). The QW engine isnt quite as smooth as torque so thats possibly why it feels a bit odd. Also the netcode for Torque is just superior period. As far ass the core assets and artwork go, Tribal Wars is outstanding. Im sure over time they will add more elements.
  • I checked out your video, looks pretty good. Interesting how the engine renders everything with a "metallic/phong/plastic" looking sheen type deal. I don't see any evidence of skiing, seems like everytime you get the opportunity you opt for the jets rather than ski, which leads me to believe that you couldn't correctly duplicate the "glitch" that made skiing so much fun in the tribes games. Am I off base?
