Does the dedicated server work with Windows Home Server 2011? Hard drive is failing on my XP machine, and I have a copy of WHS11 for when I install the new hard drive.

Thanks

I updated my server from winxp to WHS 2011. Now my TribesNext ded server gives me an unhandled expception. I get the error at the very end of ded server start-up.

Same exact install, same hardware, just different OS. Do I need to change Firewall settings? Anything else I am missing?

Thyth advice worked for me.  Right click on TribesNext shortcut, then click on "run as administrator", then the config should remember if you have the check box clicked or not.

Tribes next isn't remembering my passoword.  I click the box in the login, it doesn't take.  I manually go into clientprefs.cs and change $pref::RememberPassword to 1 and the checkbox is lit when I start up Tribes.  I shut down the game... $pref::RememberPassword is reset back to 0.  Anyone know what is going on?

Yep, that worked ... thanks.

Trying to make a shortcut that connects me immediately to my favorite server.  Is there a command line argument for that?

That worked... thanks.  The other workaround I found was to turn NoSmurfs on.  Your way is better.

I am joining my own server, and my nickname is being changed to "poser".  The server still gives me superadmin, but changes my nick.  How do I fix this, thanks.

Edit:  I am connecting over local IP  eg   connect("192.168.1.100:28000");

Why is someone advertising a mod in this thread anyways? It has nothing to do with this thread and he's completely derailed the original ideas of this thread with his mindless spamming.

Quiz time!
1) What is the name of the mod being spammed in this thread?
2) What is the title of this thread?

This isn't a new mod, a little history...

First version of UltraXL came out about a week after Tribes 2 was initially released.  So last few days of March 2001.  Then I kept updating it through 2002.  I ran a server out visi.com for about year... had two 40 player games running on it.  At its peak, UltraXL was the 3rd or 4th most popular mod.  I stopped running the server at the end of 2002, and no other server filled in the gap, so the mod dropped off.

Running the current server to see if there are some of the old cult following around so we can get some matches in.  Not too hopeful, but worth a shot.  Fun going down memory lane at least.  The mod was a lot of fun to develop and play.  Great experience.

go away forever
How old are you?

Started up an UltraXL server... just search for UltraXL in the game browser.  I am the guy that put it together many years ago (Known as Xenolith back then).  Web page is no more, but a copy of the "manual" is here.  Also started a Facebook page for you to join.

Enjoy.
