Dedicated server, without going through the game.

Trying to set up a dedicated server without having to go through the tribes 2 game.
Reason being, its a old server with no graphics card, but we want to run the game in server mode....unfortunatly, the only way we can see to do that is to start up the game, which as you can guess leads no where.

Any ideas?

  • Create a shortcut to iSpawn.exe, then modify the target so it says this...

    ispawn.exe Tribes2.exe -dedicated

Your dedicated server is ready to go.

Brilliant! That gets it up and going. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to want to give the players time to connect, as soon as its up it goes through the loading sequence starting the game and starting the countdown.
Which is all well and good, but it doesn't let the players connect, leaving them at the main LAN screen with the nice big "Connecting". Meanwhile the server goes through the countdown, starts, immediately ends and restarts.

    Any ideas?

Also, if someone could link or type down all the shortcut target commands for me I would be a very happy fellow.

::Edit:: Found most of the CL stuff, but the problem above is still a problem. Though trying some ideas from the server thread.
  • that is caused by not having the port set the same in both prefs file and ispawn icon.
