I'm still having issues connecting to my public server from both the WAN and LAN addresses. Has this issue been resolved or is there a work-around for it?

This is generally always due to firewall issues.  Where is your server located in relation to where you're connecting from?

But do note that it does have bugs from trying it personally.  Feel free to send a pull request to the guy, I'm sure he'd love it.

striPos() is not defined (since T2 is an old Torque version), but it is case-insensitive strPos() if you want to re-implement it.

...still searching for an arena map called Aztec, anybody out there in internet-land that has or knows where I might get this?
You've got me curious as well. I've been looking around to no avail. Sad

Didn't you say in your first post that you had it?

"Supplied Shortcuts" means the installer makes shortcuts that call the game with a certain set of arguments to it.

You can find two of them (Tribes 2 Online, Tribes 2 Solo & LAN) in "C:\Dynamix\Tribes2" if you just clicked Next > Next > next in the installer.  Some mods include Shortcuts to make it easier to launch them, too.

Ok, thanks guys, I'll try them out. One other thing, do I just place them in the Dynamix folder or do I put it in one of the subfolders?

.vl2's are generally placed in the GameData\base directory if that is what you are asking. (They are essentially .zip files)

Any reason that this isn't on github (or some other git collab site)?  Would love to contribute (and get back into this game).
It will be soon. I've committed to my local repo. I just haven't pushed yet.

Awesome.

Anybody know where I can find the Aztec map for arena?  Ive searched  myself  without success Cry

I have it. REDACTED BY MODERATOR. PM HIM YOUR E-MAIL. Contact me.

....why not upload it here? Or for that matter, publicly host it (from the numerous, free, upload sites)?
Also, I would edit your post to take out your email address (and PM baskerdude instead) as now site crawlers can now pick up you email and mass register it on spam websites...

The fact that the C++ source code the T3D is readily available to anyone who wants to mess with it should be enough motivation to put together a T2 revival project using T3D, even if it doesn't get anywhere anytime soon, you'd at least show that there is still interest in Tribes 2, I'll have to think about this one a bit since I have some open time coming in the next few months.

I've looked at the source code (on GitHub) and got it running from they're instructions.  Looks like there isn't a built in implementation of infinite terrain.  Jetpacks look straight-forward (hell, google how to do it and you will find a shit ton of people wanting it, and the way to do it).  The skiing system though may be a tough one to tackle...

Have you looked at this FAQ topic? http://www.tribesnext.com/forum/index.php?topic=469.0

Also, what Windows OS are you running? Any antivirus or firewalls up?  Please provide more info so that we can better help you.

Does it crash? Or silently exit?  When the player page pops up, can you open the console (~) and see whats going on?

A word on t2 and windows 8.

I have it on good authority that t2 does indeed play on 8, so hope is not lost for those with 8 systems. How it gets installed and started up I have no clue, however.
Who's your authority? Tongue

Thanks for the answer Thyth.  I knew there would be some parts that can't be released.  With that in mind, I will, one day, dive into that Ruby engine and see what stuff you can do with it...
