How to make .vl2

I was bored so I'm putting up a guide how to make a .Vl2

This guide is most for those who have allot of maps and wont to clear some space and lose some 50 files from there Tribes 2 folder.

Using WinZip, you can zip your Maps in one VL2 package.

In this example I will make a VL2 package for my maps called "Big Map Pack"

First, make a new folder called "Missions"
Then make a new folder in there called "Terrains"

You should now have this :

Put your maps in the "Missions and Terrains" folder
Remember Mission should have .mis and Terrains should have .spn or .ter

Highlight the "Missions and Terrains" folder, Right-click and select "Add to ZIP" from the drop-down window like this :
83638290yn1.th.jpg
You can use Winrar and 7Zip if you have that.

Now type in the name of the map package, in this example's case "Big Map Pack.vl2", and hit the "Add" button. like this :
89245696zx2.th.jpg

Now all you have to do is put this VL2 package in the "base" folder like this :
16445989nb9.th.jpg

And your maps *should* work !

And here is my own map pack i made O_o this have the most maps you ever need.

I started this 23:16 now its 00:03 so im sorry if some thing went wrong i will try to fix this next day so Good Night.

  • I never knew how to make a vl2 file. So I always just deleted all the contents of one vl2 file and drag and dropped my new folders into it and renamed it. Even though I now understand from your guide how to properly make a vl2, I'm not going to do it because I don't want to admit to myself that I've been a complete moron all these years.
  • I always just made a zip file in regular Windows and renamed it to VL2. I heard this doesn't work for some people, though.
  • Zip file has always worked for me.
  • eh,

    to make a skin vl2:

Create a zip folder named teh1337skinpack or whatever.
create a folder inside called textures
create a folder inside textures called skins
    put your skins in skins
rename the zip extension to vl2.

    ^works for anything in T2.
