  • Is there a thread somewhere with more info on the Infected mod? I've known about it for some time, just never get to play. (Nobody's ever in there.)
  • Hi Red! I can answer that for you. Well GTW is a mod primarily concerned with the use of deconstructable mobile bases. Base turrets, sensors, inventory stations, and even vehicles are deployed in and around either structures (The default bases in Tribes 2.) or open areas you think are easily defended. There's a control…
  • There were 15?! Wow. More popular than I thought. I will say the grappling gun was fun...made me feel like Spiderwoman...
  • What do you expect? I used an online translator... (This is when you rag on about how I shouldn't use a language if I can't properly speak/type it. Meh.)
  • Touche good sir, touche. Sometimes, however, it's good to just blow off some steam before melting into bed.
  • .:She reads this thread for the first time. Facepalm.:.

  • Well I wasn't going to post any names...thanks for doing that for me.
  • I second this!
  • Tribes: V would have been an excellent stand alone title. But to try and tie it in with the awesomeness that is Tribes and Tribes 2 was an abysmal failure on Vivendi's behalf. Now if you've never played the first two, Vengeance is alright.
  • You know you're addicted when you map the controls of a different game to the default settings of Tribes 2... .:Slowly raises her hand:.
  • So you know exactly how long I've played the Starsiege franchise, how many hours I've spent studying it's coding, how many trials I've run on the various packs, how many kills I have and exactly how many minutes I've logged...nice. Care to share? Didn't think so. I have, often! They die just as easy. Shield packs are not…

  • I almost joined Estrogen...heh. And yes, T2 has an extremely broad fan base...I mean seriously...it's Tribes 2! Who wouldn't like it? (Except WarCrack wh--es....peeps...)

  • Are you serious?! The cloak is best INDOORS! No footprints! More places to hide and recharge! Quieter sound on the terrain! When running around on snow each footfall is audible. Inside it's quieter with no trail! And the shocklance is useless? Wow. So the Thundersword and Mortar are useless two. Those being the ONLY one…
  • That makes no sense at all...you loose respect for us when we beat you?

  • More tips: When you need to recharge, hide. And beware of your shadow! I suggest using third person view whilst recharging. Also, remember about the IFF. Try to get where you're completely hidden from view of the enemy, and use the freelook function to watch for guards. Outside with the enemy, need to get by, don't want to…
  • If you're low on health and ammo and far from your base, suicide is fine... But after I shoot you down or start to kick your ass...that's lame. If you don't want to fight on the ground, damage yourself before flying so when your vehicle blows, you die. There's just no excuse for suiciding while you're both fighting on the…

  • The best defense is a good offense. I firmly believe this. Best way to win? In CTF? Majority of the team attacks. A variant of vehicles, LO, HO, and midfielders. A small number defends. At least one HOF, some LD, and at least one farmer. MPBs if ya got em. That's about the best strategy there can be. All maps are…
  • Ok I have to say it. The cannon (bombadier) isn't useless! Sure it's not the most powerful of weapons but if you hit what you're shooting at, a shrike is dead quick! To fire, the shrike has to use it's energy pool. The shield run off the energy pool. The shrike fires on your bomber, damaging it's shields as the pilot takes…
  • He's on to something here... You guys have any more tips to add? Or perhaps a strategy to discuss? I'll go first: What is the BEST was to defend with the tank? Solo and risk an annoying team mate or pesky enemy hopping into the driver's slot? Or team up and bore your driver until they lose it and rush a pair of plasma…
  • Touche. Way back when I had them downloaded and never used them. I suppose I could go though the agonizing ten minutes it'll take... (Yes, that was sarcasm)
  • Aha! Then I agree. Pubs suck for strategy. But they're an excellant place to trim up certain skills. I just wish people would learn which IFF color to shoot... And personally, I don't like the thought of having to download TWL map packs in order to play on those servers. I dunno, just me. I do like the thought of…
  • You guys keep mentioning these uber-awesome servers where the creme de la creme go to slay each other.... Well. What's the name? So far I've only found a good two or three servers with more than two people on them. So I go where the numbers are, pubs. Blah blah "Pubs suck and you suck for goin to em!" blah blah. Shush.…
  • As posted before, there is no one golden rule in T2. A standoff approach is good when you have a strong supporting offense. Artillery never won a war single handedly. Rushing in without support gets you a brief disruption, then dead real fast. Both work. To a degree. The point is a tank is not much good attacking/defending…
  • Oh dear Goddess... So I'm farming on Arm Pit. I set up a triple redundant line of turrets. A line of Spikes outside, a line of Clamps just inside, and another line of clamps at the flag. Impenetrable. Til some idiot who I won't name blows them all up and sets some clamps in a horrible firing position. By the time they lock…

  • Maybe I should clarify. Maps with low visibility (lots of fog) make great times to use the SJ.
  • A note: Use the CC to view the detection fields of turrets and sensors. This lets you play outdoor items with much greater efficiency.

  • Trollyth you're right, this is meant to be a basic guide for the new player. By no means is it an advanced manual on how to conduct armored operations in game. ;) After all, I'm a shriker at heart. Tank driving is something I do for the lulz. Kauket guy? Silly you! Kauket is a Goddess, not a God. Google it...
  • Capping? Loadout dependant upon the map. Laser RIfle or Lance - Open map vs closed map Grenade Launcher or CG - Again open vs closed Disc - ALWAYS! Targeting Laser - Shine it in their eyes! Energy Pack - More boostin. Flares - Anti-missile Mines - Add a disc and voila! Insta-kill Cap-Chasers! Beacons - Why not mark some…

  • Greenstorm: It's about the same as wearing a SJ while in the shrike. The IFF (Colored triangle above you) disappears and allows a little better chance at surprise. This also helps you stay off the enemy CC.
