  • Use ESDF key format which u can find in the settings under controls(press load).
Q=repair kit. Use it when you get damaged.
Do not CTRL K for god mode if someone tells you to.
Numpad enter = Inventory to change armor/weapons/packs
Right Click= jetpacks Use them sparingly (as starter try to keep them from going past half)--
Spacebar= skiing jet a little bit and hit the downward slope of a hill then press this key to ski right be fore u land on the slope--try to hit ground on slope but at the top to gain speed while skiing--then as u ski up a hill jet to keep your speed up(remeber jet only so much to conserve energy to fight if needs be) Repeat these steps on a slight decline u might find in the terrain.

    Have fun.

First, familiarize yourself with how the quick-change inventory system works. Numpad numbers give you a loadout, enter lets you select specifics. Don't forget to save.

Secondly, get a loadout with an energy pack, a chaingun, a disk launcher, and a grenade launcher. This is all you are going to use for a week. Start by practicing leading targets with the chaingun. Then once you get good at that, switch to using the disk launcher. Lead and fire along your target's ground path; only fire when your enemy is on or near the ground. Lastly begin mixing all three weapons together, using the grenade launcher for long range and standoff shooting.

Only after you have become accustomed to skiing, attacking from altitude, and accurate with these three basic weapons should you concern yourself with anything else in this game. Play in the midfield mostly, focusing on intercepting and harassing attackers and so slowing down the enemy's offensive parties. Delaying is as good as killing in this role, so its perfect for new players. Chase after enemies with your flag and support your team's flag runs, but generally avoid their base. You will learn very little, very painfully if you attack a well established base defense early in your 'career'.

Once you've become proficient in the midfield role, begin playing light defense and screen your base from flag runners and chase down those who get through. Pay attention to the fundamentals; speed, focus and keeping your momentum from the insertion through to the egress. After you learn what works and what doesn't, take your understanding of what works and start supporting the more experienced flag runners on your team, harassing light defenders before the grab and killing them in the pursuit. After you have completed this basic training, feel free to branch out into the other roles.

    Best of luck, newblood.
  • I am going to kill you and local taunt your body.
  • Whatever you do, just make sure you dont download TracerECM and spam VGXQ.
  • As an "old schooler" (who is rusty) my best advice is to practice jet packing, using the momentum of your movement to increase your speed and dodging skills, and to practice your spinfusor timing. If you are good at using a spinfusor and timing your jetpacking well everything else is just icing on the cake.

Also, learn how to properly work with other players without much prompting or information. Tribes 2 was unique in that if there was no teamwork, nothing got done. You need to basically "trust" someone if they call up a bomber and you just jump in, or if you jump into a Havoc. Learn to love the quick command system for things other then spamming "Hi".

Also, do not feel squeamish about getting a repair pack and repairing the base for 5 minutes in a match - n00bs think it is boring but it can completely save your team from being decimated (which is not fun after a while). Also become knowledgeable about the use of turrets, mines, sensors and the like. I never use them, but I totally respect people who can show up in a base and totally destroy it for an entire match without dying a single time.

Most important is HAVE FUN, but that is a corny way to end this.
  • 1. ESDF movement because you need access to lots of keys in Tribes (and wasd doesn't provide that).
    2. Q for extra health (only when you're damaged lol).
    3. If your team is getting pounded in the base's rear entrance, go offense even if just in your spawn gear. Stand long range and shoot disks at equipment.
    4. MOVE
    5. Don't float. Don't ever float. Quit floating. I'll MA you, quit floating.

PS: Start in Light + Epack. It makes it easier to get around and learn a bit about maps, movement, and fighting.
    PPS: Taunt constantly (spam taunts).
PPPS: Don't listen to the llamas on these forums that try to tell you offense and/or the flag isn't important, or that having everyone play defense is the key to victory.
  • Sorry but why sould i taunt constantly?

    You shouldn't.

And I use the arrow keys and use the numpad/ home end pageup pagedown for all my quick buttons. Then again I'm crazy.
  • Thanks guys ,il do my best.
I just hope i dont confuse tribes with cstrike rolf.

You should be able to tell the difference, namely the lack of the Ak-47 and porn sprays. Oh and the fact that in tribes 2 you can fly WITHOUT hax.
  • Sorry but why sould i taunt constantly?
Because it is fun. I swear it is the best thing on the internet.

Taunting for the sake of taunting sucks (that's just my opinion) but learning to use the animations is very cool! Learning to "Dance" is an important part of your T2 development, it separates the Virgins and Ho's from the Mature T2 Pimps and Pimpettes!

Your name is "Rusty", or you are physically rusted?

Agreed... plus the verbal part of the taunt is a local sound, thus no spam ;)
Hey how can i host a game and add bots??
Can somebody tell me so i wouldnt create another topic please?
Unless you're ready to set-up a dedicated server, you might just want to play on the servers already out there... from what I understand local servers where you're playing and hosting the same game aren't (yet) supported on TribesNext.
