  • A word on OS updates. If you have your system, regardless of what OS you run, set to automatically update itself you may want to consider changing that setting. There have been instances where a system has automatically updated and then at the next boot the system failed and a bootloader had to be installed to recover the…
  • A word on cable Modems; Cable innernets service is based upon the last come best served algorithm (lol). What that means is if your modem has been up for days, weeks, months, it has fallen to the back of the line as far as bandwidth and latency goes. The cable co is spreading the available bandwidth around to their…

  • Mine says: D:\T2\GameData\Tribes2.exe -online
  • A word on nvidia game profiles: Game profiles are applets commonly found in most any current vid card control panel, at least those cards intended by the maker to have sufficient performance to play games. They provide for the ability to have separate game profiles for each game, and for the desktop as well. The desktop…
  • Guessing it's the tight security this website deserves.
  • Anyone notice the date Thyth posted this on?
  • Someone who plays t2!
  • A word on t2 and windows 8. I have it on good authority that t2 does indeed play on 8, so hope is not lost for those with 8 systems. How it gets installed and started up I have no clue, however.
  • "I have an intel graphics chipset 128mb in my micro PC sooo...." In light of the above specs and what they represent to the game we love, just keep in mind that t2 had as best possible target card a nvid gf3 - wich is a dx8 class card, so most onboard grafix devices made in the last few years should have similar or…
  • This is the server support forum, you need client support. As for menus freaking out try disabling antialiasing in the video card driver control panel.
  • FOV = Field Of View, or how far side to side you can see looking ahead, your peripheral vision. Humans have about a 110 degree natural fov, fishes have huge fovs, the game defaults to 90 I think, can't remember, but many players widen it out. I set it to 95 and leave it as I am disturbed by the parallax and perspective…
  • Please list system specs, meaning cpu, ram total, video adaptor, os. Have you read the faq on tn? Have you created an account? Have you read my epic thread "video/game settings and you"? Have you installed a dso cleaner?
  • If you want it to be 120 and left there simply go to: GameData\base\prefs and change this line: $pref::Player::defaultFov = 120; //set desired fov value here You can use notepad to open and save the file after editing, pros use Tribal IDE.

  • 70k is a good thing and a bad thing at the same time!
  • A word on dialup play: If you are on dialup all is not lost. T1 was written to be played and played well at dialup rates. T2 is the descendant of T1 and shares this ability. To go a bit further than just setting the in game networking menu tab to 56k you can go into clientprefs.cs (found in GameData\base\prefs) and edit…
  • Thalagyrt where are you?
  • Also if you must have antialiasing try enabling fxaa for your t2 game profile in the nvidia control panel, fxaa works fine in t2 and has less of a performance hit than msaa or fsaa antialiasing.
  • Hi Try disabling antialiasing in t2 as a game profile if enabled and if that doesn't help I've no clue off the top of my head. You will also probably want to disable threaded optimisation as well,. but that shouldn't have anything to do with not seeing menus. Hope this helps!
  • Place the .cs file into your gamedata/base/scripts/autoexec folder.
  • More on fxaa: http://timothylottes.blogspot.com/2011/03/nvidia-fxaa.html http://developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/gamedev/files/sdk/11/FXAA_WhitePaper.pdf "If you have a GeForce card you might want to grab the latest batch of beta drivers from the Nvidia site. Nvidia say they’ll deliver a performance boost in Skyrim of…
  • Just tried the 301.42 driver from nvid and the fxaa antialiasing mode now works in both t1 and t2 games. What this does is give you almost 4x antialiasing image quality without the performance hit. For cards with performance issues or to decrease latency it might be a good idea to get this driver and use the fxaa mode…
  • Love to see old timers coming back!
  • Sounds like lotsa work is being done, good job!
  • Branzone knows t2 servers.
  • When you try it you will understand. It removes some of the smoothing frames from the game, and shows a more accurate depiction of true gamestate.

  • It'd be nice to have the ta folks add t1 and t2 as optional installs so players could experience the game as it has moved.
