Update: Tribes Ascend announced! To be released 2011, Multiplayer only. Tribes 3 is here. ;D

As it stands it's a pretty small community, if we don't want Hi-Rez to fuck this shit up it would be in our best interest to have our collective voices heard. Half of the members have some Tribes background while the rest are just intrigued players of Global Agenda. There's nothing wrong with that but the most ideal time to make an impact in a game's direction is when it is in the alpha stage. Once beta rolls in you've lost any chance at making a meaningful impact on any of the game mechanics, just bug fixes and makeup.

Some people over there have talked about Tribes players that know so much about the games that they don't even need the source code to understand the intricate details of the underlying physics, these are the kinds of knowledgeable people that need to be over there at this very moment, applying for the alpha so they can oversee that they stay true to the first two games. If not, at least to have a chance in changing what needs to be changed. So gogogogogo now:

Better hurry, I think some people are talking 'bout removing the overpowered Spinfusor.d1vkp.gif

  • I looks to me like Hi-Rez isn't paying attention to their forums at all. They have yet to show any interest in any discussion there. So, I don't think it much matters who comes to post there or what they post about. They've already said that the Beta will be all about gameplay, not just bug fixes. They've also already said that they plan on reaching out the the Tribes community for input once the Beta starts.
  • when they selected the unreal engine (and d3d) for the new version i became pretty sure it would not fly as a tribes game, wich is all about modability at client and server

It's an MMO lol. I've never played World of Warcraft but from what I've seen the game does in fact have some level of modifiability. (Am I right here? I think you can have customs scripts and whatnot) What I DO know is that they sure as hell wouldn't add any of that if no one mentions it. :-\
Tribes Universe will fail if they have any leveling and more useless things in it .

I think everyone here wants tribes 2 with new textures and some more maps/weapons/vehicles etc .

There won't be traditional "leveling up." Your character won't become stronger just because you played longer. (Something that EVE players know too well.)
“There are all kinds of people on line who have posted really amazing algorithms on how to recreate the (skiing) bug that was in Tribes 1 because Tribes 2, ‘did it completely wrong,’” Larkins said.

Still, the team makes it clear that just recreating an older version of Tribes is not their goal. “I’ve seen two different types of Tribes fans,” Larkins said. “There are the ones who want either Tribes 1 or 2 – usually it’s not Vengeance. They say, ‘Do it exactly like this. Don’t mess with the skiing. Don’t mess with the weapon loadout.’ Or you have the other group of Tribes’ fans who (feel that) a lot of the things that are unique to Tribes, like skiing or spinfusors or wide-open maps, those need to be there, but they’re more accepting of taking it to the next step.”

At any rate, I'd hate to think a game franchise's fan base could so quickly dismiss a company's attempt at risking it all for an IP that didn't exactly have record breaking sales. They could had easily come up with a half-assed knockoff and still made bank-without all the negativity that comes from following in Tribes Vengeance's wake, but no, these Tribes veterans wanted it bad enough to buy the rights to the game. So all the power to them.

If it turns out they failed, you can all submit your "I told you so's", until then you still have the power to shape the game. They do read the forums(from what I can tell), and apparently they also studyplay Tribes 2 online. :)
