  • Evidently a lot of features were stripped out of Torque that were in the version of the engine used for T2, so, in many ways, Torque is a downgrade.
  • Visit us in IRC if you are having these problems. In 99% of the cases, this is related to HTTP filtering settings in antivirus.
  • An account was registered from your IP address on Friday, January 30, 2009 09:37:30 PM Pacific Standard Time with the name "Drolith". Try a credential download, since it seems to have been created successfully.
  • It would be pretty easy to remove those observer notifications if the observer is an admin.
  • No idea what would cause that. You may want to try reinstalling.
  • Mini-stutter is an affinity issue. There is a thread with 4 possible solutions in the FAQ.
  • [quote author=TheOracle[xXx] link=topic=446.msg4539#msg4539 date=1233348197] What would also be nice, and I don't know if anyone has noticed this. Is more information in the server info section in the server browser. Like when you click on a server to see who's in it, there should be a line or two maybe with a description…
  • I know you're being facetious, but, improper application of cryptography doesn't add to security. Still... the Damage Report output is looking good.
  • We've discussed this. Source code of the game isn't an issue, since we have a development environment for easily adding new native code to the game. There are a couple of things that would need to be implemented in native code to do the actual transfer in game (binary capable network sockets and binary capable file…
  • This usually means that the Tribes2.exe patch failed to apply. Redownload and reinstall the patch.
  • I think masses of weapons and packs do affect armor mobility. But, most of the packs and all of the weapons are mass=1, compared to the mass of the player (400 for a light, I think). Some of the larger deployables do have heavier masses, which could affect jetting and a little bit of acceleration time. Top speed is…
  • It was somewhere around 10500 when I last looked at the count. It's clearly decelerating now. I've generated a few graphs that can be found in this thread: http://www.tribesnext.com/forum/index.php?topic=96.0 The newest graph (2 weeks old) is for about the first two weeks of operation. I'll generate another one on Feb 2nd…
  • Your assumption is not correct, the authentication server is designed such that a global ban authority is impossible. A coalition of servers could publish shared banlists, but participation in that coalition would be optional. Additionally, once an account is created and the signed certificate is in the hands of a user,…
  • I've been working on various bug-fixes in the native code that I added to the game. I have rudimentary cheat neutralization in the development version which will be part of the RC2 release. Naturally, people who are capable of analyzing executable code to the sophistication necessary to build a hack like HM2 will be able…
  • Sounds like a firewall. Did you ever have ZoneAlarm installed by chance?
  • The options are there to control how long key generation takes. 512-bit keys don't take very long so they are the default. Cracking a 512-bit key still takes more than a year of CPU time on a high end system.
  • Check the list of common issues and fixes. Most often this is an antivirus program running HTTP filtering.
  • If you are running a server, 28000 on UDP is required inbound, unless you change the bound port. If you aren't running a server, you don't need to open any inbound ports.
  • I'll add 31 million, 337 thousand kills to my account.
  • You can both log in with the same account until the 7 day waiting period expires.
  • The TN scripts send the heartbeat via HTTP (port 80). You should be getting messages in the server window about listing status. What do those say?
  • Looks like a bug. I'll look into it.
  • Is this connection to IRC via the game, or via another program like X-Chat or mIRC?
  • If you want to discuss alternatives to the system I implemented, I'm more than willing to have a civilized discussion about it. I hear a lot of moaning and flaming from you, but no suggestions for realistic alternatives. Be an adult for once.
  • If it won't let you register another account, and the name appears to be taken, that means the account was generated successfully, and the game crashed afterward. Do a credential download with your username and password, and then you should be able to login and play. Registration requests are atomic on the account server…

  • Is this an ATi video chip in the laptop? If so, I've seen similar problems on my IBM T60 (ATi Radeon X1400 Mobility). D3D performance is unacceptably slow, but with IBM provided drivers, there were graphical glitches in OpenGL that made the game unplayable. I fixed it by getting the DH Mobility Modder and modifying the…
  • If you could join us in IRC during the day (US timezones), I'm sure someone could help you diagnose more interactively. If the MD5 sum is the same for the installer, it looks like you got a good download of it.
  • You can download a nice MD5Sum utility for Windows from http://www.md5summer.org/download.html. Just select the directory where your copy of the installer is, select the installer, then create the sum. Hopefully you'll get the same MD5 hash as I posted.
  • Holy crap. That's some attitude. Did I expect him to open a Telnet client and test for availability on his system? Did I tell him to do that as a necessary condition for support? While I'm sure you think the other people on this board pale in comparison to your vast intellect, there happen to be people on this board with a…
