It's rather easy to do either... Just gets troublesome when you need to add exceptions to the rule (i.e. kicking players, time limit, etc)

Well, it does capture keyboard input... But unless you found a very naughty host, it's a false positive...

Were you on two different teams (i.e. You were on Storm, he was on Inferno)? Was your text green? If you answered yes to both of these questions, it's because you were using team chat, and not global chat.

For everybody else, please try the quick-fixes here. Etheralking, I might suggest you join IRC to poke about diagnosing your troubles...

If you have a problem with one of the The-Construct servers, take it the their forums (www.the-construct.net/forums). And, DarknessOfLight, the SI client/server are not (at current) compatible with TribesNext. :-\ Locked.

Install the patch file (found under the Downloads tab), and try again.

I'm sure he was trying to be polite.

If after applying one of these fixes you still have a jittery game, create a .cs file in your autoexec folder (GameData/base/scripts/autoexec)

Option Four: The Task Manager* Open the task manager (ctrl+alt+del, or ctrl+shift+esc) * click the Processes tab * right-click the Tribes2.exe process * select Set Affinity... * uncheck all but one core (Best results typically result from using a secondary core) * click OK
-
Option Three: Vista or Newer (Courtesy Cat, teratos)* Create a .bat file (or copy and edit one of the classic ones) in your GameData folder * Drop a shortcut to the .bat on your desktop and enjoy
-
Option Two: Affinity.exe (Courtesy: CraigS)* Download http://www.leweyg.com/download/Affinity.exe Save to your GameData folder (Usually C:\Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData) * Create a new shortcut named play that goes to the Tribes2.exe (remember to add the -online flag) C:\Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData\Tribes2.exe -online * Create a…

This issue is being worked on, but until it's ironed out he can open his console (the ~ key), and enter$IPv4::InetAddress = "his.external.ip.address"; The IP should be from some source such as www.whatismyip.com or www.tribesnext.com/whatismyip.php

Yes, when in doubt use the torrent... since the bittorrent protocol has built-in error checking.
-
Yes, you can use other clients to connect. In fact, the server hostname has been staring you in the face for a while, it's at the bottom left of the forum pages.

anybody with a brain could still find a way to submit false scores... just my two cents.

And some of them still are! Flame wars and such will be dealt with as they crop up. If you feel a thread/post is too aggressive or off topic, let us know.

I believe they're referring to the Auto-Downloader thrown together by Bytor. That was a VB app, which connected to t2maps.com, searched for the map by terrain, and then proceeded to download the associated .vl2 file from the website. That is a good idea on paper...except for new maps that get released after the super…

That's interesting, as Tribes2 explodes rather spectacularly at startup, on Windows 7, for me...

You need about 670 MB of space on your C: drive for the installer to extract temporary files. When it's extracted and launched the actual game installation, you can select where to install the game on the third screen. You have a couple options to install the game:* Run Disk Cleanup and let that purge temp files, and…

Fix the sorting by player count, and I'll throw it in a sticky. :p

textures.vl2, under the gui subfolder, look for anything named CUR_3d*.png... Those are the cursors.

SuperAdmin password is typically stored in $Host::AdminPassword to login as a superadmin in-game you can typesad("your snazzy admin password here"); in the console OR if your server and client share the same install, you could typesad($Host::AdminPassword);
-
You'll need to download support.vl2 (which you can get here) and drop that in your GameData\base folder. I'm not sure about the other issues, as I don't use audio and play the game in window mode with no ill-effects...

Direct your server host(s) this post http://www.tribesnext.com/forum/index.php?topic=174.msg1644#msg1644, or wait for the next patch which should have the fix integrated...
