Title: Tribes 2 Veterans
Post by: Blnukem on January 07, 2009, 04:36:59 AM
I've played Tribes 2 since April, 2001 and I don't plan to quit anytime soon. I've played almost every mod out there, seen the begining of construction, and the fall of many mods. My personal favorite mods are Ninja Mod, BONES Mod, and Quantium 2.8 (Yeah that's right. Quantium 2.8, surprising isn't it?)

I wanted to know if there are any other T2 vets that recently came back. Maybe we could slaughter some noobs some time. :)

95% of people playing this are going to be vets.

Well, I used to be a Vet, but sadly I have not fired up T2 in way too long.  I started playing it back when it first came out, I've been a Tribes fan since the first Tribes game.
My mod of choice was always Syrinx......good times.  I really would like to get back into this like I used to be.
It's been a long time old friend.

Eww Quantium. I personally always thought Sun Quan was a script kiddie.

Yes, he is a script kiddie. But I had some good times and good laughs then, and that version of Quantium wasn't as gay as QX. Good times. But Ninja Mod and BONES are way better in my opinion.

95% of people playing this are going to be vets.

No shit. I didn't ask how many people are vets, I'm asking WHO they are. Maybe you should learn to read. And, 95% of the people I've seen on lately are noobs. Most don't even know how to change their loadout and run around in spawn gear.

This is the question I read:

I wanted to know if there are any other T2 vets that recently came back.

And all my post meant was that the answer is yes.  So chill.

Well if you are asking who the vets are I guess I'll chime in. In tribes 1 I was mostly arena and played with folks like martha stewart and marky mark(If anyone remembers those days). Got to see the wears form up. In tribes 2 I was a shriker....unless you were into shrikes even slightly you probably didn't know me though.

Old vet here - chiming in....   Original name was Drakan, and used to run RYTS back when game started, then changed name to ImaNoob.   Been continuing to play T2 since April 01', and still say its one of the best games of all time IMHO.

Familiar name, and I'm a very good shrike pilot so I'm into them as well. :)

Likewise, I think when the community becomes so secluded like this - all you really will have are veterans and returning players by word-of-mouth. Which hey, means that by Darwinian standards - there should be some sharp challenges on the servers with people who are skilled and knowledgeable of the game. Not bad.

While I think it will be our playground of a past era (figuratively), I think advertising T2's online return would help bolster the #'s we'd see online even if it will be purely veterans. I'm not opposed to gunning down some newbies; everyone needs a bit 'o cannon fodder. But for every serious newbie looking to get his game on, you get about five rejects proportionally.

Oh, and I have way too many aliases: Darkhaze, Dark-One, y0da, Unstoppable, Rawheat. Played Tribes 1 forever (6+ years; a few ladders: OGL, TW, Teamplay.net, etc.), Tribes 2, and *cringe* T:V when my previous addictions dried up. Played base (T1), Renegades (T1), RPG (T1), & base/classic (T2). Nothing really has quite come out on the market that has ever lived up to the gameplay style and pace of T1/T2. I remember it being a breath of fresh air coming from the Quake 2 MP days.

Blnukem- Eh I used to be one of the best shrikers in the game. Was usually on the aerial dogfight servers...Wish it was like riding a bike, but my rusty butt is around the game a little now(since last night). Still hoping an aerial dogfight server pops up...

Unstoppable- Yeah advertising would bring in more folks. Though I think people are holding off till the build is solid enough. Don't want new folks coming in running into bugs and forgetting about it altogether.

Remember though tribes 1 was not overly popular till it became a free game even if it was not legally so. So if this gets ironed out theres a good chance of it working out.

Right, makes sense. Especially about the buggy aspects being ironed out before you guys go full throttle on the advertising campaign. I'll probably share this with a few other level-headed and patient tribes players who won't mind running into the bugs if it'll help with a reemergence of activity (which is what we're all hoping for I think).

I'd consider myself a T2 vet I guess. I always played T1 a lot more, but I remember that I used to be a godly sniper in T2. I could stand in one area and pick people off before they could even get to me, over and over.

Most mods do suck, like War2003 for example. But that's my opinion.

i'm currently downloading the game. i'm a tribes 1 and tribes 2 vet. i stopped playing around 2002 due to some serious RL issues, and i'm looking forward to checking out the game again. i had a lot of good times, more specifically with tribes 1. i was disappointed with vengenace and it's lack of community. hopefully there will be a tribes 4 someday.

Great to find Tribes 2 alive and well. I remember back in the base, base++, and later the classic mod days. I loved T2 for many years and when I get off work I'm gonna download and try this patch out.

Personally base++ was my favorite way to play. I also loved Minrabbit a whole lot.

Personally, I wouldn't call myself a veteran as it sounds way too snobbish and reminds me of how many years I've aged ever since I bought that game on the first of its release. With the release of Tribes: Vengeance, I didn't only lose my interest in the franchise but sadly, my password to my T2-account as well. Guess what? There wasn't any more Sierra Customer Service to retrieve that problem. ^_^
Anyway, The_Kaioshin, former member of Team Spider in the Ladder.com and Eurotribes-League or whatever. Feared and defamed by my enemies as the worst chainwhore ever in existence (I've got pretty good at shock-lancing and midairing, though. Thanks, Kekskopf!) and reliable teammate for all the dull and boring jobs.
We'll meet again, Shazbot!

That shouldn't keep you from playing the PC. The engine they coded for had a lot of potential to make a great game, however, they had no idea what they were doing, and screwed it all up.

I'm a proud T2 vet and also started playing April 2001 (lol).
I have to say though, I was never a fan of any of the mods. I felt like it cheapened an already (nearly) perfect formula. Construction seemed like a nice creative addition though.

I just heard about this project from a friend and I'd just like to say that I'm very stoked that this is happening. Cheers!

Started playing the multiplayer demo in '03, most likely. Got the full game when it was made available on fileplanet, spent most of my time playing Aerial Combat- a great mod which I believe a Mr. Necrobones is responsible for. Haven't played in about 4 years, but a resurgent player base is a very good thing. . .

*bows*

Werewolf here. Been with Tribes 1 since it came out, and I wrote Spoonbot (http://www.playspoon.com/wiki/index.php?title=Spoonbot) for it. I was in the Tribes 2 beta (and I actually got to help fix a sound-related crash, yay!), and was an on-and-off Tribes 2 player after that. I admit I never got into Tribes 2 as much as I did with the predecessor. I did some Tribes 2 scripting, like BotPilot (http://www.playspoon.com/wiki/index.php?title=BotPilot). I even dabbled with weapon mods and made a little LaserTag (http://www.playspoon.com/wiki/index.php?title=Lasertag) Mod for T2.

Coming back to Tribes 2 now after these years, I'm shocked and appalled - about the current games, that is. This gem here feels fresh and solid. I'm going to enjoy playing this actively again. You can see me online under the alias "Toumal". ^_^

Hi. Old school Tribes 2 player here. Me and my brother started with the demo when it first came out, then bought the full game later that christmas. Back then we spent hours taking turns playing, and we had 56K so if it got disconnected when it was your turn you were screwed lol.

Crappy rules but that's what you gotta do when you've only got one computer. ;D

Times have changed now, I moved on from Tribes to Jedi Knight Dark Forces II, then to AvP2. They just recently shut down the AvP2 master server, and if you think a lot of tribes fans threw a fit when they lost their server...

Anyway I'm looking forward to playing this amazing game again. I used to be a pretty good shrike pilot back in the day. Maybe I'll see some of you guys back in there. I might even be able to recruit my brother again.

Hello.

Played tribes 1 at least 2 years before tribes 2 came out. I played the Insomniax mod.

I preordered tribes 2 and installed and played the day I got it. Not sure what month it was, I believe it was March or April of 2001. I started competition later that year for CoDx tribe.
Then played for [HOR].  In classic competition I played with a good group of guys called TNP. I knew most of them from tribes 1 days. Unfortunately I had to leave tribes 2 for a bit do to real life problems, but when I came back it seemed everything was dead, except V2 competition in which most of the guys from TNP had started Team Cygnus. I joined them for the fun of competition. After a more recent real life problem, I have returned to play whatever and Whenever, and I am glad this little project was started. Maybe one day competition might come back. It is alot to hope for, but I do hope.

Thanks to all of you who are working so hard on this.

Hey all, I used to play under the name Fyberwire on the |HV| server predominantly.

I recognize a few names around here, Lexor, Mo_Steel, Rufus J Squirrel of course...and it's good to see a lot of the old schoolers back for more shazbot.

I used to play with a lot of the old names back on |HV|, people like Tex, Fireman, Mr. 13 (r.i.p.), Terranova, HeraNoir, Coldblood, and a few others. Hopefully as the word gets out more people will return and hopefully more people discover this truly great game.

I haven't had a chance to get my hands on what looks to be a great reprise of my all-time favorite game, but I'm hoping to do just that in the next few weeks. If the community needs it, I have a lot of older resources for T2 on my old computer that might not be available any longer. I know there are some great user-created maps that deserve a spot in any good rotation, as well as some great skins and UIs made by some of the greats.

Looking forward to more of the same great teamwork and community that made this game so great in the first place many years ago.

-Illah (aka Fyberwire)

Started in Tribes 1 in '98, loved it and mastered the TAC mod and sniping(Not in base, I hate the LazRifle). I then started Tribes 2 when it came out, played MeltdownX and Renegade. When those two cleared out, I played Construction and Base.

I'm ready to kick ass and do loops in a shrike. Who wants to join me?

'Ello... I've been playing Tribes 2 ever since it was released just under 8 years ago, after being addicted to both Starsiege and Starsiege: Tribes.
Nothing beats this game in terms of fun-factor for me. No other game has ever kept me entertained for 8 years, and I'm glad to find that I'll be able to add to that count. Thanks much to the TribesNext devs.

I've recently begun to mod and script for Tribes 2, and find it quite enjoyable and rewarding... I develop a variant of the Construction mod entitled Krypton. This game is awesome on so many levels, from server-side moddability to community features such as the Browser and T-mail... no way we can let it die.

A lot of familiar names ITT. Kryand, Methicle, Wildcard, Rufus. I really can't play like i used to on my 56k. Then again, i guess i never learned to play T2 without it, if that's any indication of how long i've been around. Almost as nostalgic as legos.

used to play as UseR-X- on 56k in 2001-2002 (as well as off and on as a variety of smurfs in t1) or so for kore (#3 base++), then got on cable and switched to projectile permanently right as I joined 311, which held #3 and subsequently #2 on the base++ ladder.  left, came back and played with icon (#1 in classic), then after icon disbanded, joined delirium tremens (#1 classic team).  In 7 man, I played for infidelic, which held #1 for a time, but most notably for team little rascals, which is the undisputed #1 7 man team of all time.  Also played for icon in the 10 man spawn ctf league, which held #1 undefeated until they retired.  I was generally regarded as one of the very top ld in the game for many years.

I had been playing this since the original Starseige, me and a friend played Tribes 1 vigurously and then Tribes 2, Ill never forget our matches of Kabotic over our 56k dailup systems...and my beloved Voodoo3. Man, so many sleepless nights.

I dont consider myself a Vet, Im not sure I ever got THAT good, but I love this game and my jaw dropped when I found this place.

Gonna go test it out now!!! Been dying for a good game to play lately...

I find it oddly heartwarming to see people I vaugly rememeber from my old tribes days (Kry, Wildcard, and Methicle).

Back in 01-03, I was Gyrox10. In retrospect I think I spent as much time on the fourms (before they were axed of course) and in the chat as I did playing... which means a scary amount of all three. I doubt I'll reach that level of obsession again but it's good to know people I recognize (at least name-wise) are still around.

Prost!

I got T2 as a Christmas gift in 2001 and it has ruined me for any other game since.

Good to see so many familiar names, last night was the most fun I've had gaming in a long time. I need some more of the old shrike pilots to come back and give me a run for my money.

A lot of familiar names ITT. Kryand, Methicle, Wildcard, Rufus. I really can't play like i used to on my 56k. Then again, i guess i never learned to play T2 without it, if that's any indication of how long i've been around. Almost as nostalgic as legos.
Wow, this I did not see coming. wallrus, back in action!

wow! I used to play T2 for a few years and loved it. It still ranks as my best game ever. Had a moment of nostalgia last night and decided to see if it was still going! it's free and people are still playing.. woohoo!! Installed. logged in and felt right at home. Loved the shrike, especially on a flag run when you get your timing right by jumping out, grabbing the flag and back in again while the shrike is still on the move.

Well, I played TRIBES from senior year HIGH SCHOOl until tribes 2 came out.  So, that ends up being like, oh, 3 years maybe.  When Tribes 2 hit shelves, it blew my mind because my uber computer couldn't handle it....DAMN VOODOO BANSHEE video card!!!!  Once I finally upgrade to my AMAZING Geforce 3 card, I got to rock this game out like I'd been dreaminga bout.

The mod I most played was the SHIFTER mod, which was one for Tribes...and there was a version released for T2, but I didn't feel that it was as good....still, i'm way excited about hopping back into some T2 action!!!

I've play and own copies of all of the Metaltech series except for Battledrome and probably one of the Cyberstorms. The Starsiege Compendium is one of my favorite books, I keep it with me when I travel.

I was around the StarsiegeUniverse.com forums. I was a tournament player in Starsiege: Tribes and played on Shifter mod when not competing, played Tribes 2 too much for too long after finally relenting and making the change from the first Tribes, and discovered and spread some of the first cheats in Tribes: Vengeance to help force them to patch the damn thing quicker (but sadly it still wasn't quick enough).

I've been around, but I don't take the game seriously. Whatever strikes my fancy at the time is what I'll do and enjoy best and my mod particulars aren't too particular at all.

Played T1 demo when I was in sixth grade, then eventually got the full game same year. As soon as I could afford T2 I got it, which was probably that summer. My computer could barely handle it and I would get a steady 10FPS but I would still kick ass. My name was `Phoenix and I played on wookies of war (wow!) which was a siege tribe (#1 rung) and would love to see comp in any form + siege pubs (the pond!!) again.

Oh i forgot to mention I play as disembodied head now since TN does not allow ` in names.

I had multiple nicks while playing T2, I came and went to other games but always came back to my addiction - T2. The only time I left for a long time was when Planetside came out. I still enjoy PS but last night playing T2 for the first time in a very long time I gotta say it rocked. The speed, the skiing, my beloved fusion mortar....it all came flooding back and how I have missed it.

I normally played under the names Madwand, Agabash, and Graeme. I have to admit I have always been an infantry centric player so vehicles never were my thing unless it was lighting you up in my reticle

Tremendous thanks go out to Tribesnext, I am dragging everyone I can find back into my addiction and thanks go to the people who made it possible. BTW, my wife will learn to hate you soon enough  ;D

I bought the game in july 01. Been playing as much as possible since then, in 02 Tex invited me to join Houston Vehicles Elite, where I have been ever since. in 03 (or 04?) a friend named Mister13 and I started the Psychotic Assclowns tribe but I had no clue how to run a tribe so he pretty much did all the work for me heh. I love to tailgun for a good crew who knows what they are doing.

Met alot of kickass people through this game, I dont think anything will even come close to this game for many years to come.

Hey everyone

I've been playing T2 since late 2001 and immediately found Shiftermod and joined Black-Chapter. We dad a great run almost 5 years and one hundred league games before the activity all but disappeared. I used to hop into random classic pubs, but was mostly into T:V unit 2007. Some of my clanmates just told me that Tribes 2 has reappeared so I thought I'd check it out and here we are. I've always played as Dredboss and some of you might recognize me but I haven't played a lot of classic or base until very recently, but seeing as how it seems to be the bread and butter you might see me more often.

P.S. If anyone would be interested in having a Shiftermod server up let me know, I still have the old box ready to go :)

Hey guys :)

I originally started playing Tribes 2 when it was released. I played solidly for a couple of years, at which point the community seemed to die out and everyone went their own way. Despite that Tribes 2 has always remained my favourite MP game by far... so I was chuffed to bits when I got wind of Tribes Next  ;D

A big shout to all the oldies out there - I've played in both (OAP) and [BDX] under the aliases Blade_UK, GPS and German Porn Star (don't ask :p). It has been a long time though; prior to installing TN the last time I played I was a 15/16 years old. I'm now 23 - how time flies eh?  :o

Anyway, it's great to be back and I'm still in awe of the fact that after all this time T2 still manages to be the best game I've ever played (and believe me, I've played 'em all).

Started out with Tribes 1, mostly played the HaVoC mod.  Logged a LOT of hours in on that game, joined a clan, did some ladder comps.  Moved to T2 as soon as it came out (still have the original box, even), and played under the name Giacomo.

I'm so stoked to be able to play this again, especially since my computer sucks, but runs this 8-year old game beautifully!  Hadn't been able to play a PC game in MONTHS, and I'm a PC gamer through-and-through, so I can't even begin to express how happy I am to be able to use my keyboard & mouse for their PROPER purpose once again!

Only other game I've played as much as Tribes has been Battlefield 1942/BF2, so obviously I love team-based multiplayer FPS games...

If you played the game at release and you're just now coming back, that doesn't make you a veteran. A veteran is someone "who has had long service or experience." Technically, the people who started playing in 2004 and haven't quit are more of a "veteran," because they have more years of active playing under their belt than those who played prior to 2004 and quit.

Yah I reckon I'm a veteran.  Just loaded up Next yesterday.  Haven't played since 2005 though so I'm a bit sketchy as to judging spinfusor shots and what not.

Never was into competition.  A few pick up games here and there but mostly just played whenever I had the time, couldn't really schedule my life around a video game.  I mostly played as a flag runner (still do!).  Sitting around watching our flag wave in the wind isn't really my thing.

But I'm kind of disappointed to see that heavies can ski as fast as scouts now.  But I reckon I'll get over it.  Just not a big fan of change I guess.  And I heard cheating is rather rampant now?  Don't know how true that is but there's been a LOT of 'skilled' shots that make me raise an eyebrow.

But damn, it's still the fast paced fun I remember it being.  Way better than Counter-Strike and the ilk.

Edit:  Oh I don't know if anyone would remember me (like I said, I just pubbed or did PUs so wasn't really in any kind of 'community') but I would've gone by a few names like Shiv, Shivalyn, Caco, Caco-Cola, or Cacon.

I played tribes1 a bit right before T2 came out and played T2 till the end.

It was a bit odd when I got into tribesnext, my skills were non-existent, I used to be great with the shrike, cloak, flag grabbing, and it just wasn't there.. and all of a sudden in the middle of a game, like some type of zen like trance, I got my groove back and it was just like old days.

Anyone have something similar happen to them?

It was a bit odd when I got into tribesnext, my skills were non-existent, I used to be great with the shrike, cloak, flag grabbing, and it just wasn't there.. and all of a sudden in the middle of a game, like some type of zen like trance, I got my groove back and it was just like old days.

Anyone have something similar happen to them?

I came back to play on the "alternate master server" when there wasn't even half as many people playing and pretty much is was arena or rebels v2 katabatic. Everyone was insanely good (cept on v2 rebels) so I repeatedly got my ass handed to me playin arena. Eventually I remembered how to move and MA but it took some months, still not as good as I used to be, sadly don't think I will be again.

Started out with Tribes 1, mostly played the HaVoC mod.  Logged a LOT of hours in on that game, joined a clan, did some ladder comps.  Moved to T2 as soon as it came out (still have the original box, even), and played under the name Giacomo.

That name rings a bell!  Same here, I played Havoc allot - my brother(MrBook) and I were pretty big bug finders (we were always messing around).  I really liked Havoc 1.13 for Tribes 2 -> Dev was a damn good scripter!  If I can get this game playable for myself, I may run a Havoc server under wine on a Linux box.

Used to be a Tribesman (Vet) back in the day... when it came out played for a year or 2 and found no competition so I quit and moved on to the cookie cutter battlefield games as they are today.

Question: What was that mod that had the forcefields? You could put a piece down on the ground (a little beacon looking thing) and another one across from it, and they would connect and make a shield or forcefield between the 2 points. It was a really cool mod and I liked to play defense a lot w/ it. Anyone remember that one?

Also holla if you played on the Houston Vehicles server... I was in that clan for a while can't seem to remember my name I think it was |HV| Shinitii but could have been diff as i was a bit younger then.

Glad to see this game up and running again! Hopefully we can revive it still a sweet ass game!

I've been playing Tribes ever since it was just called Earthsiege. All of their games are fun.

I think T1 was called 'Starsiege Tribes' back then, 1997 it came out if I remember right ... gosh that does bring back memories. Well hello all. I'm yet to find any T1&2 african vets posting here, but if I be the first *twit* to do so, then cool. After vetting T1 at home for a couple of years, I lived in London and played for over 7 years, mainly on the UK and Euro servers up until about 2 years ago, so was not even aware they had switched off the 'big' server. There were a few good US servers I visited often, having especially fond memories of intercontinental matches, this way before the days of teamspeak. Glad to see there is still a community, and I have missed both the game and it. Still downloading the game off the UK mirror, but not convinced I will have a decent ping on any server I join as I do happen to be in the arse-end of the world, however, I am on undersea CAT3, so I be optimistic :)

If any UK or EURO boys here remember my tags, shout me up. peace.

Been playing Tribes since the start but the only group I joined was DMM (aka Diamond Multi Media) who hosted about 2 dozen servers. They hosted every MOD that came out at the time. Was always fun watching a whole team go ape everytime VEGASMARINE popped in a server and handed everyone their jetpack.

Played into T2 and watched TV fall off the edge of the internet, I finally dropped out.

2 kids later I wandered back wondering where everything went. So glad to see Tribes is still standing on the hill.

So glad to see Tribes is still standing on the hill.

An early-days sketch I sent the gamedev boys @Sierra, once they had taken over the Starsiege project, which later became known as T2, the best game ever. "our flag is secure' - was delighted when they transformed the concept into that iconic cut-scene intro for T2, that will forever be burned into our minds just as those disks were scorched into our hearts, an those frag granades an mortars blew the shit outta our homes - RIP you bloody gen campers ;)

RUFUS!!!!!

Damn nice to see another Horseman around!

I didn't stay for a lot of the ladder stuff, I was mostly playing for the teamwork we had.

Do you remember Osdabomb and Unkafucker?

Have to say that no game has ever come close to the fun we had in Tribes and Tribes 2.

Yes, "The flag is SECURE" cut scene had us so stoaked waiting for T2 to be released.

Miss the good old days on the Houston Vehicles server and like I said in another post, the Massive servers that the UW Madison used to run.

I'm stuck in Malaysia with horrible wi-fi at the moment, so when I get to jump on the lag is going to be horrid.  But I'm with the rest of ya'll, lets get this game rocking again!

 ;D

Veteran here  :)  Owl101 was my handle then and still is.  Bin playing since release in 2001 til around mid 2004.  I played on the South African servers cause our bandwidth to the rest of the world like using string as network cabling :P

Good time and good memories and definately the best game ever imho.  Gettin back to it is gonna be painful as I'm pretty sure my skills are rusted and fragile, but like my attitude was then, persistence pays off, enjoy the awesome game that it is and above all else, have fun!  :D  after all, death is only temporary  :P

Another Vet checking in - I played Ninjamod for 3 or 4 years (I'm fuzzy on exactly how long, there were many, many late nights). I was Defense Captain on the team Dogs of War, with Skyshroud/Vegeta as my right hand guy.

On of our claims to fame was when DoW scrimmed against FireNinjas, and their team captain Agrippa used the vgaz exploit to drop a mortar round through Skyshrouds forcefield near our flag (I was on the other side of the forcefield trying to capture a screenshot) which somebody ended up talking about (and I found years later, thinking wow, I'm almost famous, lol) here: http://everything2.com/title/VGAZ%2520cheat (http://everything2.com/title/VGAZ%2520cheat). In the article, whoever posted it says the vgaz led to NinjaMods death, but that's debatable, I think the mod was still doing pretty well the death patch was released.

Wouldn't precisely call me a Vet. After all I'm usually the guy in kata that kept getting chunk'd by mortar spam while trying to keep the turrets up and running. Used the same name in tribes as I do here, TribalOutpost, Tribes2 Maps, and advanced mod forums. If anyone's seen Doctor Pimento or Starstriker around I used to hang out with them sporadically.

...I still want to blow SS's face off for running me over with the shrike. i mean c'mon, 'lawnmower' isn't exactly in the vehicle's description.

I'm a T2 Vet, playing since the days when T2 first ever came out in the UK. Used to mainly play on Houston Vehicles, was there when it shut down and Miami Vehicles arose, and then played until Sierra shut the whole thing down. I used to be a bit of a trouble maker, but as I have grown up since then I am now much much much calmer than I was.

Never had T1, and haven't really ever played it to be honest, so I know I'm not the hardcorest of the hardcore vets, but I'm still old skool :)

I don't know if I would call myself a vet.  I started playing in 2004 or so, but I only ever played demo until TN came out.  I've gotten much better since then, but I'm still not a very well-rounded player.  In Demo, after a while most of the playerbase either left or switched to full, so toward the end the only thing we ever did was dueling.  The net result is that I'm pretty good at dueling, but when I started playing on TN i sucked at CTF, Arena, etc.  I've been getting better, although disc MAs and chaingunning are still my major weaknesses.

Anyway, I've been TriggerFinger almost since the very beginning (we didn't have permanent names in demo; the server would assign us a new name every time we joined, so we would tell our nicknames over the chat.)

Funny how that is isn't it? I'm alright at Arena. But I can beat people in duels who I can't beat in Arena. I think it's odd.

Tribes 2 Veteran here... I haven't been playing for about two or three years, but I loved this game back in the day and was getting awesome at it... Until the servers shut down and I lost my CD Key for the game. I remember my favorite mod was one of the Meltdown variations... I don't know if it's still around anymore.

In any case, i'm back. I love you guys.

Let's see played T1 back in the day as Vain & played for Replica X as RogueX-21.

Played T2 as Vain|^|. Led Brotherhood of Warriors {BOW}, member of Guild of Authors |^| & spent more time writing fic in the forums than playing matches, but I was around from the release up until Sony came out with Planetside. Tried to hop over to that game and my dailup internet couldn't handle it so I quit pc gaming until college. Was one of 47,000 suckers to shell out cash for T:V and have been periodically succumbing to T2 nostalgia ever since.

I'm rusty as all hell and never was all that good, but it's great to be back.

Hey all, Maverick Knight here.  I wasn't really into T1 much, I just caught the demo and played it to death until T2 came out and I could snatch that one up.  I was in the National Space Admin (NSA) and the Guild of Authors (Tribesiege, lol), as well as various other minor tribes.  NSA only competed in ladder matches a couple times, and we kind of sucked, but we had fun anyway.  (If any of you are, or happen to run into, General Bear or Xstax, give a shoutout...)  Vain I remember as one of the prominent members of the GoA, though.  Wish I could remember the other people in either of those tribes, but their names escape me at the moment.

When the T2 forums went down I kind of knew that the game's days were numbered.  GoA tried to set up their own forums apart from the game, but it never took.  When Planetside came out I jumped over to that, and was blessed with a glitchy account which kept me on a free trial subscription forever.  Never ran into any T2 vets on there, but it was great fun anyway.

Tried T:V when it came out.    :-\ is all I have to say about that.

And now I'm here.  Here's to hoping that this community takes off again...

I used to play on the Houston Vehicles server as DARK Turd a lot back in the day.  I've had the game since launch though and used to just play on random servers till I found that one.

Being in HVR (Houston Vehicles Recruits) was about as close as I came to being in a clan.  I just don't really care at all about such things.  Either your clan is serious and competitive, or it's really just a circle jerk.

Anyway, I've noticed a few names from HV still playing.  Blindkilla, Terra Nova, Rufus J Squirrel, Sexy Aphrodite and a few others.  I wasn't well known or anything, just recognize the names.

My question though, to old HV guys, is where is Chakan?  I remember him being absolutely badass.  And, what happened to Mister13?  I remember him being a total ass, but funny. All he did was ban people and play bomber pilot lol.
